Can I Be Gay?

What Does God Say About Being Gay?

This is not a post about being intolerant. This is a post about what’s real.

Whether you believe in God or not, you simply cannot argue with science and our physical dispositions.

What does God say?

Do not have sex with a man as you would have sex with a woman. I hate that.

Leviticus 18:22

Suppose a man has sex with another man as he would have sex with a woman. I hate what they have done.

Leviticus 20:13

Do you think I am cherry picking verses from God’s laws in the Old Testament?

Do you think Jesus has a different message in the New Testament?

One of Jesus’ disciples, Paul, writes in Romans:

So God let them continue to have their shameful desires. Their women committed sexual acts that were not natural. In the same way, the men turned away from their natural love for women. They burned with sexual desire for each other. Men did shameful things with other men. They suffered in their bodies for all the wrong things they did.

Romans 1:26-27

The New Testament even goes further to address the core principal of marriage being between a man and a woman:

Jesus replied, “Haven’t you read that in the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female’? He said, ‘That’s why a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife. The two will become one.’ They are no longer two, but one. So no one should separate what God has joined together.”

Matthew 19:4-6

Jesus is affirming that marriage is between one man and one woman and it is for life. Gay marriage is not permitted.

God set out a perfect standard in the Garden of Eden when he placed Adam and Eve together as a perfect, complementarian couple.

I challenge you to forget about biblical standards for a minute…

If you look at science, or nature in general, how do you expect our world to survive without the beautiful intimacy of natural sex?

I pity the person who has chosen to believe they are homosexual. There is nothing better in this world than pure, natural sex.

So, what drives a person to choose the lifestyle of homosexuality?

It is certainly not genetic. I also would argue it has nothing to do with orientation or preference.

Our identity is in Christ. The world and culture we live in creates an environment that does not care about what God intended to be holy.

Whether it be absent father’s, sexual abuse, poor parenting, or rape, something is changed in the mind of a person who thinks they are better off being with a person of the same sex.

So, what do we do?

I will choose to…

That being said, I will not stand with the rest of the world and say this practice of homosexuality should be accepted, and I will not keep my mouth shut when it comes to a blatant violation of God’s creation.

You may say I am “intolerant” or homophobic.

I would argue that any person who wants to force me to accept a practice that is disgusting is being intolerant to my views and beliefs.

I am not telling a homosexual person that there should be a law banning them from acting on their sinful temptations, but I also want to make it clear that what you are doing will be judged by God just like any other sin.

Sin can be forgiven.

But, forgiveness only comes after repentance. You have to first understand that homosexuality is purely and simply a sin.

And it is rampant. I won’t even address the current trends of the full LGBTQ movement.

Having the ability to surgically change one’s gender wasn’t even fathomable in the times of the Bible.

Satan laughs and God cries. We use our technology and privilege to abuse our perfect bodies that God gave us to procreate in a natural manner.

If you are reading this as a person who believes you are an LGBTQ individual, please consider the eternal consequences of your choice.

God loves you. Jesus died for you.

I choose to follow Him.
